DOE HOMESCHOOL REGISTRATION GUIDELINES
Due to the vast number of families going home-schooling you are advised to register with a homeschool curriculum (CAPS) provider as soon as possible and NOT wait for the DOE as they have already given blanket permission for you to do so.
The parents have to notify the relevant provincial DOE that they have decided on homeschooling. The best way is to email them and keep this as your record. Once/if they respond they may request additional information from you as follows:
Information required as per the DoE application form for home education:
1. Curriculum to be used – CAPS
2. Full details of the educational program: We will provide this information after you have registered with us.
2.1. Subjects – As per CAPS Curriculum Grade R – 12
2.2. Teaching hours per subject – As specified in the CAPS Curriculum
2.3. Assessment – Formal Exams written Mid-year and Year-end – SACAI Assessment Grade 10-12.
2.4. Library – DOE Approved CAPS Learners’ Textbooks and Teacher Guides or CAPS based workbooks
2.5. Program use of tutor – Online Tutors ordered and paid for by parents where required
